Default High Heels?

Ladies, how high are your heels that you wear for ballroom dancing? I'm already tall and can't balance on my heels. Could I get by with flats?

Default heel size

the normal heel height is between 2"- 2.5". i usually go shorter when i buy practice shoes, but definitely buy them shorter if you are really tall. the heel height is usually higher for latin shoes (about 3"), so i you want the right "look", you may have to get at least a little bit of a heel.

Now I know why I never got into ball room dancing...I don't do well in heels...it is a lovely type of dance, though.

I'm tall but still go with 2.5in heels. Flats just don't work as well for me.

I do 2.5 inches as well.

Actually, I think ballroom heels are waaaaay more comfortable than regular heels. I think they're designed for moving, so that makes them less painful/uncomfortable.

I've watched the ladies during ballroom dancing and with all those moves I would imagine it would be tough to manuever as gracefully if the shoes were any taller than 2.5.

I do not see how woman could walk nonetheless dance in high heels. They seem hard to keep balance. I have seen some dancing shoes before and I do not understand how some of these ladies can stay on their feet in them.

After a lot of practice anything is possible. Woman can dance in high heels because they get used to stuff like that. If you dance in them for long enough then you no longer become akward and you gain the ability to keep you balance.

Even I could not really understand the women's liking for high heels. I don't think it looks good on my wife as she walks a little awkwardly when wearing high heels. She likes it though, so I don't complain. But whenever I buy her a shoe, I give her flat heeled ones only.
