Default Dance Revolution comes to PlayStation 3

OK, PlayStation 3 is releasing Dance Revolution, a video dance game that includes a dance pad and you have to follow the steps of the online dance character. It gets faster and there is actually a choreography to the dance. Could be a good way for kids to get involved in dance, or for a 35 year old woman to learn a few new steps.

This is an excellent way also to get kids exercising. The obesity problem is growing, and since computer games are one of the most attractive things there is for kids right now, the more active the game can be, the better for them.

I agree. This is also why I like the Wii, which this game is also being developed for. I may get this and try it. After all, you are never too old to learn.

So the saying goes, but I think I am the exception to the rule. I LOVE dance revolution, but computer games defeat me. I am so bad at them, just can't do it. I am sure my two year old could beat me

It's a little sad though isn't it, that we have to use computer games to get kids to exercise.

Yep. But you know, if that's what we have to do to get kids up and exercising or into dance.

I agree that anything is better than sitting on the sofa or in front of the TV! Hopefully the kids of people on this board will be exposed to a slightly more active lifestyle too, which I think is what they really need.

So two questions -- I've thought about getting DDR for my neices and nephews. Is the PS3 version in HD (hi def)? Can someone also explain to me what DDR teaches....(or does it). I presume its kind of hip-hop based, but that aside from getting the footwork, there isn't much more....anyway, clearly I don't know from Adam, so would love to hear what DDR really does for people. Thanks!

Don't know about the HD version. As for what it teaches, I think there are different dances/steps you "learn." From what I know of this "game," it gets quite fast. Maybe you can find a review up on digg.com?
